I am doing a lot of research at the moment about how best to advertise my very small business and it is articles like these that I am most drawn to. I myself much prefer a blog or newsletter that is informative and gives me something concrete that I can use immediately, and am very turned off by ones that even hint at trying to sell me something. Your examples are clear and spark ideas about what topics of discussion I might want to engage my own clients in. Thanks a bunch for the great info!

Wow. All this makes so much sense, thank you for putting it in plain English. It has opened my eyes to the difference between an OK website, and a GREAT one. It has also inspired me to do everything possible to get the latter for myself! ;+)

I think these all have strong graphic design. However as a user - the more graphically heavy, the less my confidence that the site actually *does* something. I think cogmap and exploratree look the most genuine/interesting/honest.

Yilei,

Thanks for including this on your top-10 list. We're really excited about our new design, which was created with Happy Cog. It's really taken our travel planning service to the next level!

cheers, Mark
